About the Position
A high-impact leadership opportunity is available for an experienced Gastroenterologist to serve as Chief of Gastroenterology in Atlantic City, NJ. This role is designed for a physician leader to build and lead a state-of-the-art GI program focused on clinical excellence, research, and education, aligning with a transformative Vision 2030 strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and lead a cutting-edge GI program and academic division
- Expand advanced GI services, including complex endoscopic procedures, inpatient and outpatient care
- Recruit, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary team of GI hospitalists, faculty, fellows, and support staff
- Serve as a hands-on clinical leader, managing complex GI cases
- Drive collaboration with other specialties, particularly cancer care, leveraging strategic partnerships with academic institutions
- Ensure endoscopic block time and manage robust referral volumes from day one
- Promote workforce development through training, mentoring, and culture-building initiatives
- Engage with underserved communities to enhance access and reduce disparities
- Maintain required certifications: BLS, ACLS, DEA, CSR/CDS
Role Requirements:
- Open only to experienced gastroenterologists (no new graduates)
- Physician-only role – not open to APPs
- No 1099 contract, locums, or visa sponsorship candidates
- Prior leadership experience (program start-up, Chief, or Medical Director) preferred
- Candidates with a history of malpractice or licensing issues may be considered with limitations
Requirements
- Board Certified in Gastroenterology
- Active and unrestricted NJ medical license (or willingness to obtain before start)
- Valid BLS, ACLS, DEA, CSR/CDS certifications (or willingness to obtain before start)
- Most recent NPDB Self-Query Report (within 30 days)
- Disclosure of malpractice history, if applicable
- Proof of COVID and flu vaccination compliance
