About the Position

A well-established inpatient behavioral health program in South Carolina is seeking a Board-Certified Psychiatrist for locum inpatient coverage beginning May 2026. This is a structured assignment with strong clinical support and a manageable patient census.

Position Highlights

• Inpatient Psychiatry coverage

• Hospital-based Behavioral Health Unit

• Support from an on-site NP

• One physician on call at a time

• Collaborative and organized care environment

Schedule

• 24-hour coverage (8:00 AM – 8:00 AM)

• Call rotation approximately 1:4

• Schedule flexibility based on census

Clinical Scope

• Inpatient psychiatric care

• Medication management

• Pre-admission reviews and documentation

• Weekly treatment planning

• Discharge summaries and medication reconciliation

Patient Census

• Average of 20 patients per day

• Mixed general and geriatric population

Systems

• EMR: EPIC

Requirements

• Board Certification in Psychiatry

• Active South Carolina medical license

• NPDB self-query (current)

• BLS / ACLS preferred

Credentialing

• Estimated timeframe: 60–90 days
