General Job Responsibilities: * Diagnose and treat patients with electrical abnormalities of the heart, such as arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation. * Perform electrophysiology studies (EPS), catheter ablations and device implantations like pacemakers and defibrillators. * Manage patients with implantable cardiac devices, including routine follow-ups and troubleshooting device malfunctions. * Work closely with cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and other members of the healthcare team to optimize patient care. * Provide emergency care for patients experiencing life-threatening arrhythmias. * Maintain accurate and thorough medical records. Skills: * Comprehensive understanding of cardiac electrophysiology and related procedures. * Expertise in performing complex procedures, such as radiofrequency ablation and device implantation. * Ability to make quick, informed decisions, particularly in emergency cases. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and different medical teams. Minimum Education Requirements * Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school. * Residency training program in internal medicine accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). * Completion of a fellowship in cardiology, with a subspecialty fellowship in clinical cardiac electrophysiology. * License & Certifications: * Board certification in cardiovascular disease with additional certification in clinical cardiac electrophysiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). * Active and unrestricted medical license in Oregon. Experience: * While specific requirements may vary, most locum electrophysiologist positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.
