Locum Nurse Practitioner (NP) in California - VHS is looking for a Nurse Practitioner for a telehealth position in California! Position Summary: As a Nurse Practitioner specializing in sleep medicine within a telehealth practice, you will play a crucial role in providing sleep health services to patients remotely. This position combines your advanced skills, clinical expertise, and proficiency in telemedicine technologies to manage obstructive sleep apnea and other sleep disorders, educate patients, and coordinate care with other healthcare professionals. You will primarily engage with patients through telecommunication platforms, ensuring accessibility and convenience for individuals seeking sleep-related healthcare services. Key Responsibilities: Conduct Virtual Consultations: Utilize telemedicine technologies to perform initial assessments, follow-up consultations, and patient education related to sleep disorders. Evaluate patient medical histories, symptoms, and sleep study results to manage and develop individualized treatment plans. Conduct remote physical assessments and assess patients' overall sleep health. Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnose and manage common sleep disorders, such as obstructive sleep apnea. Prescribe appropriate interventions, such as lifestyle modifications, sleep hygiene education, medication management, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy, and referrals for specialized treatments. Monitor treatment progress, adjust therapies as needed, and collaborate with patients to ensure adherence and address any concerns or side effects. Patient Education: Provide comprehensive education to patients about their sleep disorders, treatment options, and self-management strategies. Empower patients to make informed decisions regarding their sleep health and encourage compliance with treatment plans. Offer guidance on healthy sleep habits, stress reduction techniques, and other lifestyle modifications that may improve sleep quality. Care Coordination: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as sleep medicine physicians, psychologists, CPAP care coaches, and respiratory therapists, to ensure holistic patient care. Facilitate referrals to sleep clinics or other specialized facilities when necessary. Coordinate follow-up care, monitor patients' progress, and provide ongoing support to optimize treatment outcomes. Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMRs) in accordance with legal and professional standards. Adhere to relevant privacy and security protocols to safeguard patient information. Comply with state regulations, scope of practice, and professional guidelines for nurse practitioners. Requirements: Must reside in California or Nevada Current unrestricted nurse practitioner license in CA and be willing to license in other states, NY, LA, TN. Advanced practice nursing certification. Specialization or prior experience in sleep medicine is strongly preferred,  but not required . Proficiency in telemedicine platforms and comfort with conducting virtual consultations. Strong knowledge of sleep disorders, their diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment modalities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport with patients remotely. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage a virtual practice effectively. Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and documentation practices. Commitment to maintaining professional competence through continuous learning and education. Work Environment : This is a 100% remote position. You will need to provide individual computer, keyboard, mouse, and monitors. If working from home must have reliable internet service to avoid interrupted delivery of service.
