Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Job Description

Child & adolescent psychiatrists or pediatric psychiatrists are medical doctors trained to identify and treat psychological problems in children and adolescents. These professionals work with a range of young patients who are presenting symptoms and behaviors indicating various cognitive conditions such as, depression, antisocial disorders, autism, or attention deficit disorders. Child & Adolescent Psyche jobs involve treatment through psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, medication, and sometimes hospitalization to produce the best patient outcomes. Professionals in this field can find themselves working in hospitals, in-patient care centers, or may even operate their own private practices. Individuals working in 24-hour care centers may often have irregular hours, while private practice pediatric psychiatrists generally have more control over their schedules. Overall, the job can be very rewarding yet emotionally challenging, and really can make a difference in the lives of young patients!
